Jaren Ziegler - Violist

Named a Classic FM Rising Star for 2025, Jaren Ziegler won the BBC Young Musician Strings Final in 2022 aged 16, becoming the first violist in the competition’s history to do so. 

Since, he has appeared as a soloist with the BBC Philharmonic, London Mozart Players, RCMJD Symphony Orchestra, Royal Orchestral Society, Opera North Youth Orchestra, Schubert Ensemble, Stamford Chamber Orchestra, Bishop Stortford Sinfonia, Albion Orchestra, Purcell School Orchestra, London International Concert Orchestra at the Last Night of the Proms at St Judes and has toured with the Northern Chamber Orchestra. Upcoming concerto performances include Bartok's Viola Concerto with Bristol Symphony Orchestra. 

He has also been invited to perform at festivals such as Cheltenham, Bath, Chiltern Arts, Lammermuir, Aldeburgh, North Norfolk and Two Moors Festivals and at concert series including St George's Bristol, Oxford Coffee Concerts, Wethersfield Chamber Concerts, Richmond Concert Society and the 1901 Arts Club. 

He is grateful to have performed alongside artists including with the Heath Quartet, Sini Simonen, James Baillieu, Ben Goldscheider, Elena Urioste, Radek Baborák, Ryan Wigglesworth, Mark Wigglesworth, Adrien Brendel, Will Duerden and Trio Concept. 

Jaren has participated in the Verbier Festival Academy Soloist Programme and the Kronberg Academy Festival Masterclasses, where he was chosen by Tabea Zimmermann to perform in the ‘Entdeckungen-Konzert’. He is a member of the international string ensemble, LGT Young Soloists and has performed at Wigmore Hall, Brahms-Saal Musikverein, Victoria Hall Singapore, Royal Festival Hall, Philharmonie Luxembourg and Snape Maltings Concert Hall.  

Jaren began playing the viola at age 6 and moved to the Junior Royal Academy of Music two years later to study with Jacky Woods.

He is currently a second year undergraduate student at the Royal Academy of Music studying with Hélène Clément. He has participated in masterclasses including with Tabea Zimmermann, Antoine Tamestit, Nobuko Imai, Lawrence Power, Timothy Ridout and Amihai Grosz. 

Jaren is grateful to YCAT for their generous support in their aftercare scheme for BBC Young Musician finalists. He plays a Stefano Scarampella viola, kindly loaned to him by the Beare’s International Violin Society.
